The Open Is Upon Us

by John Planow on March 4, 2013

It is finally upon us.

The CrossFit Open starts this week. On Wednesday at 5pm, we’ll learn about a workout that will forever be known as “13.1″. Every week for five weeks, there will be another. And perhaps at some point, there will be one we’ll affectionately call “7 minutes of…”

At CrossFit Genesis, we’ll perform the CrossFit Open workouts on Fridays during all of our regularly scheduled classes. Whether or not you signup for the CrossFit Open, you get to do the workouts.

The competitive athletes of Team CrossFit Genesis will be doing the CrossFit Open workouts on Friday evenings at 6pm in weekly events we’ve dubbed Friday Night Lights. Please join us to cheer them on!

This video evokes such emotion in me. It reminds me of why I compete. My mind can think of nearly nothing but the open right now. It truly is upon us. I am reminded of how I feel on the day before Christmas. I just want to know!

I also want everyone to know that I invite talking strategy and technique and anything else related to these workouts with me when they are finally here. My inbox is open to everyone! PLEASE talk to me about it, haha. Until tomorrow….

Really? 9 @ 200M runs after heavy back squats! Ugh! My legs and cardio are going to be tested today!

Hey Ray…

25 hours and 37 minutes, but who’s counting? Certainly not me. :)

Dear John… You know when you were asking the class tonight if we were getting tight in our back, hamstrings, calves, and such? I would like to change my answer to yes. =o/ LOL
Great workout! I hate running but love these workouts that force me to get better at it.
