Here are just a few of the things our clients have had to say about us:
Just had to stop and share my greatest CrossFit moment yet. It didn’t come during this workout or any workout at all. It came after the workout to which I had dragged my closest friend. Afterward, we stayed and talked with John and Beth about some recent experiences with getting out of comfort zones and with how CrossFit itself works and promotes that growth. The class and coaches were very supportive of my friend Jordan and he walked away with a very positive experience. Here’s the best part. To see someone who has battled different addictions since I can remember walk out, say to me, “thanks that was awesome,” pick up his electronic cigarette and say, “I don’t need this anymore,” then shot put it clear out of the parking lot was awesome!!!! I’m more and more thankful for this community every time I come home. You truly do change lives by forging unimaginable strength, physical, mental, emotional and moral. It has been a privilege guys, thank you and keep up the good work.
It’s not that I did not know how special CrossFit Genesis was, as I have trained at multiple facilities over the years. However a recent venture to another CrossFit gym brought home how truly special the culture is at our gym. What sets our gym apart is how they coach and how they treat their members. Our coaches are invested in each and every workout, watching and instructing us using positive motivation to push us. They bring humility and genuine interest to each and every member so that you do not feel like another number, but like a cohesive team. CrossFit Genesis ensures that we warm up together, catching up, laughing and getting to know each other and they even call you if they haven’t seen you in a while. This other gym put out GroupOns to bring warm bodies in, but they miss the mark with the lack of culture and attention to detail. CrossFit Genesis has created something unique. It’s not just another box to get your CrossFit workout in, they make you feel like a very special member of their CrossFit family.
CrossFit was nothing like I had ever seen before: a philosophy, a community, and a way of life. John helped me to set goals I never thought were attainable, filter out the negativity, and told me 'I could'. He said to never hold anything back and always give it my all. So for the first time in my life, I thought 'What the heck am I waiting for?' and I did just that. I was astounded at what I was truly capable of!! He changed my mindset and ultimately changed my outlook on life.
The CrossFit state of mind has translated to my life in so many ways both inside and outside the gym, that state of mind that says anything is possible. This is my new way of being and I love it!
When my eldest son, Jake, asked about a CrossFit gym that I would recommend, I decided that safety and a family atmosphere would be his best experience... Crossfit Genesis fits the bill.

The last 5 months at Crossfit Genesis have been one of the most eye-opening/life-altering experiences of my life. It's helped me become a better mom, wife and person, to use my body in ways that I forgot were possible. The self doubt is gone and the nagging inner voice is silent. I belong to a community of wonderful, supportive people that do not judge or intimidate me. I've gained muscle, dropped 15 pounds of fat and lost 5 ½ inches off my waist. But most importantly, I've gained confidence, new friends and a balance within my chaotic life.
I started CrossFit to change up my exercise routine. I enjoy a variety of activities but having competed in triathlons I burned out on slogging through miles on the bike or running for hours every week. I love the functional aspects of the workouts, the lack of 'routine', learning new skills, and my workout companions. Though my biggest goal is simply improved overall health, there is always a new milestone and someone to catch. I'm stronger, faster, and healthier than I've ever been!
Since joining CrossFit Genesis, I have made great strides towards my fitness and diet goals. I have lost over 10 pounds as well as increased muscle tone. When I started I could not complete the baseline workout. I am now able to consistently improve with every workout and look to set new PRs with every class. I also have more energy with day-to-day activities and look forward to being pushed to a new level. With great trainers and a supportive community, any fitness goals are achievable at CrossFit Genesis.
I am a cancer survivor and a huge fan of CrossFit! Back in January 2008, I was diagnosed with cancer in my chest. The tumor was the volume of a large grapefruit and the size of a football. Luckily, I went through 10 weeks of intense chemotherapy treatment and 4 months later, I was cancer free. However, by body was devastated. I had a very slow and difficult climb back to being healthy again.
By early 2010, my body was getting back to normal. I had a lot of my strength and stamina back and was back to doing all of my normal activities: skiing, tennis, basketball and cardio workouts. However, I was certainly not “all that I could be” and that is where CrossFit came in.
I had heard about CrossFit, but I was not sure if it was for me. The website said, “School of Elite Fitness”. I was not an elite athlete by any means; I was a relatively weak 50 year-old ex-chemotherapy patient with lower-than-average hemoglobin. But I decided to give it a try and see how it went.
The first thing I noticed about CrossFit Genesis was the community. All the members were very supportive. Even though all my workouts were scaled back from the “prescribed” and I was usually the last to finish a workout, I always got a lot of cheering and enthusiasm to finish the workouts. The positive vibes I got in CrossFit Genesis kept me going and I was determined to be all that I could be.
When I first started CrossFit I did not have the strength and flexibility to do a single proper air squat. I’d fall over backwards if I tried to do a single deep air squat! I also lacked the strength to do very many proper push-ups or unassisted pull-ups. After a year of going mostly 2 times per week (I am now going 3 times a week), I have made HUGE strides.
Here is a sample of some of my recent accomplishments:
Deadlift 305 lbs.
Backsquat 205 lbs.
Push Press 130 lbs.
40 push-ups in 1:30
80 air squats in 2:00
65 sit-ups in 2:00
7 unassisted, strict pull-ups
I could go on. In addition, I now ski for 6-7 hours in a day and my legs never cramp. I have also noticed that on the basketball court and playing tennis, I feel stronger, faster and my cardio allows me to finish strong in all of these sports. Overall, CrossFit has made me so much stronger and fitter that when I started. I have surpassed all expectations I had when I started in 2010 and I have not quite peaked yet. I still have some progress to make in both strength and stamina, but I am amazed at the progress I have made so far.
CrossFit is an excellent fitness and strengthening program that is exciting, fresh and always a positive experience. I strongly recommend it to all ages, genders and fitness levels.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. Go out and prove them wrong.
This is my outlook towards life.
I have a congenital heart block and thus, I got my first pacemaker in May 2005 when I was 15 years old. Many times, I have heard people at CrossFit Genesis say that I inspire them. The truth is, I am just a guy who has a strong heart to work hard, shed body fat, gain muscle and break new barriers. Having a great, encouraging community like CrossFit Genesis makes this transformation so much easier!
Joining Crossfit Genesis back in March 2013 was a bold move but it has been a very rewarding experience. I call it a “bold” move because just like many others, I was not confident it was something I could do. However, once I got introduced to it, there has been no looking back.
You don’t know about Crossfit Genesis? Let me tell you about it.
CrossFit Genesis is more than a regular gym. It’s a community where everyone comes together to reach their fitness goal and prioritize health. It’s a team where individuals feed off each other’s energy. And it’s a family where the last member finishing is just as important as the first.
I have learned a lot about nutrition, effective workouts routines that include high-intensity, functional movements and Olympic lifting from highly trained coaches. Most importantly, I have become more courageous in taking first step towards any challenge.
This year at CrossFit Genesis, I have accomplished many personal records while improving my form and time. I finished the Tough Mudder race and am about to successfully finish the two month Whole Life Challenge. Most importantly to me, I have become a better athlete.
This would not have been possible without the support from my friends and the Crossfit Genesis community. Every day, with every workout, with every challenge and with every sweat, I am getting better than yesterday.
